There have been many books written about how to overcome addiction. Many individuals have become pseudo celebrities based on the books or programs they’ve developed which tell people how to successfully overcome their addictions and go on to achieve successful lives. It is difficult to believe that people can fully rehabilitate themselves simply by reading about how to do it. A new study suggests that children that have a good relationship with their parents have less of a chance to develop alcohol-related problems. The findings, published in the May issue of the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs , underscore the important role parents play in the risk of problem drinking.
Dr. Emmanuel Kuntsche, of the Swiss Institute for the Prevention of Alcohol and Drug Problems in Lausanne, Switzerland, says “…the circumstances in which that first drinks occurs — and how parents deal with it — is important.”
For their study, Kuntsche and his colleagues surveyed 364 teenagers three times over two years.… Read the rest

Shia Labeouf is coming clean in a new interview regarding alcoholism and his July 2008 car accident where he flipped his Ford truck and severely damaged his left hand.
He tells the June issue of Playboy magazine, “I had a whiskey and three beers. I’m not going to start speaking on law stuff now and corner myself, but the fact that I ever got into the car was a mistake.”
