A new study has found that 20% of college students have abused prescription. The prescription drugs that are being abused include Xanax, sleeping pills, and medicine for ADHD. Of these college students, those that use prescription drugs non-medically are 80 times more likely to develop an addiction problem.

For those that become addicted, help is available at a drug abuse treatment center. Drug addiction treatment that is successful helps meet all of the needs of the addict. Many times an addict has what is called a dual-diagnosis. This means that in addition to the addiction that must be treated, the addict also has a previously undiagnosed mental health issue that will also need treatment.

A successful chemical dependency treatment facility will last for several months. This is to ensure that the substance leaves the body, any psychological needs are met and spiritual needs are met.
