Opium Poppies and their History in Drugs

The seeds which form the basis for many opiate derived drugs is more widely spread than initially thought.  Poppy seeds, the specific kind used for heroin, opium, and other drugs, are in numerous gardens all over the United States.  The specific genus is the scarlet poppy, its Latin nOpium In Fieldame Papaver somniferum.
