April 12, 2012 in drug rehab
In this moving story a young man tells his story about his road to treatment and how long term drug rehab is the only solution for some patients. This seems to be especially true for young adults they do not have the life experience to fall back on having been addicted in many cases since their early teens. They need the extra time to learn to live sober and also get back on track with their school work. Having to deal with a child who is an addict is every parents nightmare driven by fear that their child wont make it as is often the case. It is often harder for adults to stay in long term treatment due to their other commitments with families and jobs however, when many addicts find themselves at the bottom it can also be the only solution to getting back on track and rebuilding thier lives. They may be so far down the line in their addiction that they have to learn to live sober again over a long period of time. Half Way houses are often a good and less expensive option for addicts who cannot afford the long term care in a treatment center.

What a moving story. Every parents’ nightmare is to have a child that is addicted to drugs and/or alcohol but if the right steps are taken early on and the child goes to rehab, then he/she has a great chance at living a good sober life like you said. As far as the older adult who is an addict goes, if the addiction is so bad the only option is for he or she to go for long term rehab so he or she can deal with the daily responsibilities and life in general. If you are so badly addicted you can’t cope at all.

I have to agree, what a sad thing to see your child fall into an addiction but early intervention will likely prevent problems later on. But any adult who is in a bad shape and falling victim to the addiction would have to have others help with the responsibilities and go and get immediate help. Otherwise, disaster is waiting to happen.

Very encouraging story! Hopefully by hearing his story other young people struggling with addiction will seek the help that they need. What an inspiration.

It is the most effective way of addressing these life style changes. If an addict has close associations with those friends who abuse drugs and alcohol, then relapse is highly probable. In the rehabs life skill therapies includes, stress management techniques, relaxation procedures and assertiveness training. The rehabs offer cognitive counseling, treatments and intensive aftercare which are so effective.

Rehab is the live-in program where patients can attain a newer life. Addicts feel as if they are no longer having any interest around them. So it’s a big challenge for the rehabs to bring back their healthy life without drugs and addictions and to remain sober. An effective long term residential facility will help to develop new goals that may help a person obtain positive activities during free time.
