What are the Different Drug Rehab Programs?

February 8, 2012 in drug rehab

Rehabilitation CenterWhen deciding on an alcohol or drug rehab facility for your friend or loved one it’s important to consider what type of treatment would be best for the individual before making a decision on where to send this person.  Many different programs offer different drug or alcohol rehabilitation therapies ranging from equine therapy, long term rehabilitation, and art therapy.  These different rehabilitation types come with different costs associated with them and should be examined thoroughly before making the final decision.

Certain individuals respond better to certain therapy types so it’s important to think long and hard about this before any final decisions are made.  Different types of therapies work in different ways to the individuals benefit.  You want to make sure that your friend loved one is getting the best possible treatment that is going to last longer than when they exit the rehab facility.
The less effective a treatment is the more likely that person is to relapse.  By choosing the incorrect treatment type you are decreasing the chance that the drug and alcohol rehabilitation works over the long run, and additional stints in rehab facilities may be necessary.

  1. For rehab to be successful the person first needs to be willing to go. Forcing the issue may work temporarily but in the long run the person has to recognize the problem and be willing to change. Second, the rehab program has to be one that fits their unique needs and personality. If they don’t feel that they can get involved and fit in, the program is not likely to work.
